Certified Nursing Assistant Jobs to Consider

Certified nursing assistants do not have the most fabulous, well-paid job in the world, but they are the most indispensable unit in a hospital. Certified nursing assistants must have patience, compassion and empathy for the patient they are looking after, since they are the ones who take care of the patient firsthand. Patients are usually unable to take care of themselves, so certified nursing assistants are the ones who perform the basic daily care for them. CNAs are present to reduce the stress caused by sickness or old age and aid the patient well into recovery.

So what are these certified nursing assistants? If they’re so important, how come they are not as commonly mentioned as doctors or nurses? Certified nursing assistants are frequently called patient care technicians, home health aides, nurses’ aides and orderlies. They all work under the command of a registered nurse, so there’s no need to fear that they do not know what they are doing. Certified nursing assistants are the real hands-on caretakers of the patient’s health, since they are the ones who offer basic care assistance such as checking the patient’s vital signs, grooming the patient, feeding them the food that their body needs, bathing them, assisting them in repositioning themselves or exercising, as well as giving support to the nurses while they tackle medical equipment. Certified nursing assistants are also the ones who give out emotional support, verification of their patient’s conditions, and social partners while the patient is confined in the hospital, nursing home, or a friend’s home (in the case of the home-based assistants).
